FOOTBALL LUNCHEON - Chris Hurley

The Annual Football Luncheon recognizes and honors senior football players from Columbus, East and West High schools each November.

The Glenn "Doc" Miller Most Valuable Player award will be given to the outstanding player in football as determined by the coaches and athletic directors from the three schools.  It is given in memory of an outstanding Rotarian, Glenn "Doc" Miller, great athlete and president of the Waterloo Rotary Club in 1954.  Glenn was captain of the University of Iowa Football Team in 1923 and a player on the great Iowa teams of 1921-22, which beat Yale.

VOLLEYBALL LUNCHEON - Julie Hayes

The Annual Volleyball Luncheon recognizes and honors girl's volleyball players from Columbus, East, Walnut Ridge and West High Schools each November.

An MVP award is given to the outstanding player in volleyball as determined by the coaches and athletic directors from the four schools.

HONOR STUDENT LUNCHEON - Donna Miller

The annual luncheon to recognize honor students from Columbus, East, Expo, Walnut Ridge and WestHigh Schools is scheduled for Monday, May 9, 2010.

These are our area's outstanding students whose accomplishments, dedication and commitment to excellence show their potential as leaders of the future.

MONTHLY HIGH SCHOOL ATTENDEES - Al Ricks

The purpose of this committee is to arrange for high school students from Columbus, East, Expo, Walnut Ridge and WestHigh Schools to visit Rotary meetings for one month each throughout the school year during the months of October, November, January, February, March and April.

The students are asked to orally present a brief resume to the club at the first meeting of the month.  At the last meeting of the month, students are presented with a certificate of participation in the program.

Budget Requirements:  The club supplies meals and certificates for the students.  Cost is estimated at $30 for certificates.  Meal costs are at $7.06 * 110 meals (22 weeks * 5 students each week) = $776.60.  With a total cost of the program at $806.60.

Rotarians serve as drivers for the students; picking them up and dropping them back off at their respective schools.  Special thanks to Rotarian drivers: Steve Schmitt, Rick Morris, Gregg Humble, Julie Hayes, David Allbuagh,EJ Gallagher, Ken Cutts, Tom Arthur, Craig Shirey, Alan McKean, Duane Lindberg, Tom Verhulst, Marty Stoakes, Allen Ricks.

ROTARIANS IN THE NEWS - Bill Robert, Sheila Baird

This committee strives to recognize at weekly Rotary meetings, by oral report, all Rotarians who have been featured in the news for their accomplishments.

ROTARY VOLUNTEERS - Linda Laylin

This committee is tasked with arranging for volunteers for special club projects and events on an as needed basis.
