Fourteen years of work making a difference in project led by our club

Two days before he left on his 15th trip to Nicaragua in 14 years, Steve Thorpe explained to club members what the relief project has been able to do.

--700 bicycles with help from the Rotary Club of Rockwell City totaling about $21,000.

--28,000 shoeboxes from clubs, church and youth groups averaging $40 each for a total of $1,120,000.

--Approximately 9.600 layettes for the women’s shelter valued at $50 each for a total of $480,000.

--Food for 160,000 hot meals in each of the last four years for an estimated value of $250,000.

--School supplies valued at $5,000 per year totaling $70,000.

These numbers don’t include many other one-time gifts and scholarship funds for students who have graduated from high school and are attending college.
