Delaying the trip for five weeks should assure our gifts will be there when we arrive.

Several times in recent years our travelers to Nicaragua have arrived only to find that our shoeboxes, layettes and other items are still stuck in customs in Costa Rica. And even though our volunteers have other great experiences on the trip, nothing compares with putting our boxes in the hands of school children and handing layette bags to new mothers.

So Steve Thorpe and his wife Liz, who leads the 14-year project, have decided to move the trip from the first Tuesday after Thanksgiving to the first Wednesday in January. As an additional benefit, we’ll avoid colder weather at home and the crush of activities prior to the holiday season.

Our trip will be January 4-11, 2017. So mark your calendar and make plans to see the differences our club and clubs from eight other states, have made since 2002.
