Service Planned for MLK Day
Jan 16 is Martin Luther King Jr Day.  In anticipation of having some people off work that day, and in observance of that Holiday, we are holding a Day of Service meeting.

We will meet at the NE Iowa Food Bank at noon.  A lunch will be provided and we will have a short program, then we will help Barb and her team assemble the backpacks for their backpack program.  You will be free to leave at 1 PM, or stay as long as you wish.

RSVP's have been collected, but freezing rain is forecast for Monday.  This Rotary meeting will not be cancelled, but we do not want you to risk travel if you feel it is not safe.  Mason will eat your sandwich if you can't make it.

If you have questions please contact Philip Nash.

Birthday Machine on its way

At our January 9th meeting, Mason floated the idea of sharing a Radon detector to help our members identify if they have poison sneaking into their houses.  Since Radon is the leading cause of lung cancer in non-smokers, detecting the problem is the first step to ensure at least a few extra birthdays will be celebrated in our houses.  Tom Arthur procured a brand new detector and it is being shipped to Mason early next week. A Google Calendar has been created to start collecting names of members interested in using the detector for 2 weeks.  If you would like to help offset the cost of the device, or to add your name to the calendar, email Mason.
