I will be speaking on why we should oppose the Equal Rights Amendment. I will outline the many unintended consequences of such a change to our Constitution. I will also explain how current efforts in Congress could result in the same damaging results as the ERA.

Rep. Sandy Salmon Biography
My husband Matt and I live on an acreage between Janesville and Denver and have lived in northeast Iowa 30 years. I was raised on the family farm near Kingsley in northwest Iowa where I grew up. I graduated from Kingsley-Pierson High School in 1973 and later from UNI in 1977 with a degree in Business Management. Upon graduation I was commissioned an officer in the U.S. Marine Corps and served from 1977- 1980. I met my husband in the Marines and after I was discharged we were married and have been for 41 years. Matt is a helicopter pilot and retired from the Iowa Army National Guard with 34 years of military service. I was a home educator for 18 years. We had 3 sons and I homeschooled them all the way through high school, K-12, graduating the youngest in 2007. I helped run an area homeschool cooperative that provided group educational activities for kids such as gym, choir, drama and speech. I also served as a 4-H leader for 14 years in Black Hawk County. Our 3 sons are all married with families and careers of their own, one an attorney in private practice, one a pilot on active duty in the Air Force, and one the pastor of Trinity Bible Church here in Cedar Falls. My husband and I have 12 grandchildren. Currently I partner with my sister and our farmer to manage the family farm in northwest Iowa. I was first elected State Representative for Iowa House District #63 in 2012 and was elected for a 5th term in 2020. That district covers Bremer County and rural northern and eastern Black Hawk County. I serve on the House Judiciary Committee, Education Committee, Public Safety Committee, and am Chair of the Veterans Affairs Committee. I am a wife, mother, and grandmother who loves God, my family, my state, and my country! As such, I am a pro-life, pro-family, and a constitutional and fiscal conservative. I feel blessed to be able to call Iowa and America my home.
