Iowa State Senate District 38 Candidate Dave Sires will be speaking at our club on Monday!

Dave Sires is a businessman from Cedar Falls. He and his wife own and operate Cedar Village a manufactured housing community and a self storage facility.  The manufactured housing business also includes new and used manufactured home sales.

Dave was born at Sartori Memorial Hospital in Cedar Falls in 1960.  He attended Lincoln Elementary, Holmes Junior High, and graduated from Cedar Falls High School in 1979.  He attended UNI in the early 1980’s studying economics.

Dave Sires has always been a hard worker. When he was 10 years old he started selling sweet corn to make money and then bought his own tractor at the age of 13.  He farmed 15 acres to start with and then as a junior and senior in high school farmed 75 acres. After graduation from high school he purchased an excavator and had his own excavating business which included building terraces, ponds and tiling. While operating the excavation business Dave had always worked along side his father in the manufactured housing business.  Dave and his wife bought out his parents in 1991 and have been operating the community ever since.  In 2003, Dave decided that a self storage facility would be a good complement to his business and he built Added Self Storage.

Dave is definitely a hard worker, but has found time for some hobbies also.  He has been a Boy Scout, bow hunter (as evidenced by 2 bear skin rugs on the living room wall), motorcycle racer, stock car racer, certified soccer referee for his daughter’s soccer teams, parachute airplane pilot and all around outdoorsmen.

Dave’s political aspirations were fueled at an early age.  He would help his Dad’s friend, Senator Roger Jepsen, affixing stamps for mailings at age 6!  He has always had interest in local politics and just finished serving four years as the Councilman At-Large in Cedar Falls, the largest city in District 38.  As a councilman, Dave’s main concern was to listen to his constituents, help his constituents and represent them to his best ability.  His experience at the local level opened his eyes to many things happening, both good and bad.  Dave’s experiences in so many areas have prepared him for representing District 38.

Dave has been married to his wife, Lisa, for 41 years.  They actually met the first day of kindergarten!  Dave and Lisa have three adult children and four grandchildren.  They are very proud of their children! Dain, is an engineer in the electrification area of John Deere.  He and his wife, Kaylee, have three very beautiful and active daughters. Rae is a board certified nutrition specialist veterinarian. She works for The Farmer’s Dog and lives in Kansas City. Leigh has a masters in nutrition and works as a registered dietician at Mercy in Cedar Rapids.  She and her husband, Jordan, have one son.

Dave is passionate about individual rights and freedoms, defending families, and leading Iowa into the future with conservative values!
