Join us Monday to hear from Waterloo Fire Chief Bill Beck. He'll present a brief history of fighting fires in Waterloo, as well as how the department is organized today and how they are working to meet the growing needs of our city.

Chief Beck started his fire rescue career in his hometown of Cresco as a volunteer, then was hired as a Waterloo firefighter in 2004. He began paramedic school in 2007 and in 2009 was promoted to Medical Officer. Elevated to Lieutenant in 2012, then Battalion Chief in 2020, Mayor Hart swore him in as Waterloo's 10th Fire Chief on March 14, 2023.  Chief Beck is a 1996 graduate of UNI, and last year earned his Master's of Science Degree in Fire Executive Leadership and Public Administration.
