Your help is needed to make the work go smoothly; and do you have a semi we can borrow?

Work will continue at the former location of the Northeast Iowa Food Bank located at East 11th Street and Sycamore.

Our leader, Steve Thorpe, plans to have the facility open from about 4 pm to 8pm Monday the 12th thru Thursday the 15th and possibly the following Monday and Tuesday, September 19 and 20.

We will open and inspect all 2,000 shoeboxes to make sure the children who receive them get basically what the rest get, and that clothing is appropriately sized and new. Also, any liquids must be in sealed plastic bags. The same will apply to the hundreds of layette bags.

As you can see this is not hard work, so bring family members and neighbors with you and plan to come back a second or third night. People who work at least one hour will be given a club meeting makeup.

It will take two semi trailers to haul the boxes, layette bags and bicycles to Houston and so far Steve has found only one company willing to drive a load south, so if you know anyone who might be able to take the second load sometime in mid September, please connect them with Steve.
