Our club is still needs host families for our inbound exchange student, Gabriel. The Rotary Youth Exchange program recommends exchange students have a variety of great experiences in their time studying in America, and to that end, more than one host family for a student is preferred.

Gabriel attended his first Iowa State Fair in August

Mark and Brenda Durbahn have generously opened their doors to Gabriel, helping him transition to life in Iowa. Please consider opening up your home to Gabriel this year if you are able. Non-Rotarians can serve as hosts, so if you know a family outside of Rotary who may be interested, please talk with them and let them know of the great work Rotary does through this exchange program and how much we would appreciate their assistance.

Ideally, a switch in host families would occur near the end of November or beginning of December; and then again near the end of February or beginning of March. If only two families are available to host, a switch would occur around the semester break, but more flexible arrangements can be made depending on hosts’ needs.
Please let either our Youth Exchange Officer Luke Jenson or President Finke know if you are willing and able to assist as a host family or know a family that is willing.

The time will go by quickly, and you will certainly make a significant positive difference in a youth exchange student’s life and experience in our country.
