Dr. Todd Holcomb of Hawkeye Community College Speaking Monday

Dr. Todd Holcomb became Hawkeye Community College’s eighth president on July 1, 2019. Hawkeye is a comprehensive community college serving students in a 10-county region of northeast Iowa. Dr. Holcomb previously served as president of Western Nebraska Community College in Scottsbluff, Nebraska from 2010 to 2019. Prior to becoming president in 2010, he was vice president of student services from 2009 to 2010, which followed a six-year tenure as associate vice president for student affairs at Iowa State University.
 
  • He also served as an interim director for both ISU Dining and the Department of Residence at Iowa State. Before Iowa State, Dr. Holcomb spent nine years at Miami University in Ohio (1994-2003), serving as associate director and later director of the Office of Residence Life and New Student Programs, interim assistant vice president for student affairs, and associate dean of students for residence life and new student programs. Dr. Holcomb has a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Truman State University, a Master of Education in Higher Education Administration from Texas Tech University, a Doctor of Education in Higher Education from the University of Georgia–Athens, and a certificate in fundraising management from Indiana University’s School of Philanthropy. A native of Tipton, Iowa, Dr. Holcomb is an active community member in a variety of organizations and his hobbies include bicycling, skiing, and golf.

Tour de Loo This Thursday
Main Street Waterloo is hosting Tour de Loo this Thursday, April 21st, this ticketed event showcases what is new, recently renovated, and what is being revitalized in downtown Waterloo!

You are invited inside buildings that are undergoing a major renovation, currently being built, or projects that have been recently renovated.  From 5:30 to 9:00, you'll be free to tour 13 sites in any order, then join everyone for a wrap up at G&R Kitchen & Taps for refreshments and prizes.  Click the link below to see the sites and purchase advance tickets.

Annual Academic Scholars Luncheon
 
The Waterloo Rotary Club annually recognizes senior honor students of the Waterloo high schools and their principals.  Through this recognition, the Waterloo Rotary Club congratulates its outstanding students and schools for their accomplishments, commitment to excellence, and dedication to developing leaders of the future.  We are extremely proud of each participant and salute them for their achievements.

Rotary International Update
Lubomyr “Lu” Hewko, father of @JohnHewko, #Rotary CEO and general secretary, fled #Ukraine during WWII. Years later he helped charter the first Rotary club in Kyiv. Members from around the region reflect on how past actions inform today's relief efforts.
