Walden Photo to close
by Mason Fromm Our good friend and former Rotarian Mike Walden says societal changes and a photo industry in turmoil have forced his 79-year old company to close it's doors. Mike recently returned to two of our meetings to donate his time and expertise by photographing our athletic MVPs. I'm sure he would appreciate your support in the next several weeks. Here is a link to the Courier story. |

Rotary Website is Filling Up
by Mason Fromm It seems that each week there is another reason to explore our club's website. Our club has so much history that should be shared. Recent additions to the website include: An interactive group photo from 2005 Volleyball Luncheon photos from the past 5 years Historic photo of a family picnic at the Rotary Reserve Future additions include Football Luncheon photos, a year-by-year history of our club, amusing photos of fellow Rotarians from the 80s, scanned pages from a club photo roster from 1919, and an interactive map of the Cedar Valley detailing our club's past and present projects. If you have any historic documents you'd like to share, (newspaper clippings, photos from events, old photo directories, or even stories you'd like to recount) get in touch with President Mason, Bill Robert, or Arnold Becker. This website can hold A LOT of information, we should use it and be proud of the long and prestigious history of our club. Be sure to thank each of our sponsors - you can click on their logos to the right and learn more about them. Those sponsors make this website "free" to our club! |

Program for December 8
by Mason Fromm Tim Coffey from Iowa Public Radio will be our guest Monday. How has public radio in Iowa changed since the three state universites merged their broadcast services? Three years ago the State Board of Regents mandated that the Public Radio stations originating at Iowa, Iowa State, and UNI consolidate their operations into one entity, Iowa Public Radio. With a mission of serving the state of Iowa with information and cultural programming the three stations have worked hard to improve service and provide programming with local roots and statewide relevance. Learn where they are and where they are headed. |
