Grundy Center Rotary Folds
by Buck, David One of the area clubs we helped found has disbanded The Rotary Club of Grundy Center, which our club helped establish in 1923, has folded after 85 years, a victim of declining membership and lack of younger blood. With only a dozen members left, many of whom head south in the winter, and with hobody interested in becoming president or in launching a membership drive, members agreed to resign their charter. It became so difficult to find leaders, that the president had served five terms and when he refused another, the end was at hand. |

Perlman Tickets Now On Sale To "Friends"
by Sue Beach As of July 6th, tickets to Itzhak Perlman are available to Friends of the Gallagher Bluedorn, so if you haven't reserved your tickets yet, HURRY! As Rotarians, we have had the opportunity to reserve our tickets since May 1st, but now the tickets are available to non-Rotarians, and organizers are expecting to sell out before the tickets are made available to the general public August 1st. There is also a very special dinner offered before the show, featuring keynote speaker Dr. Robert Scott, Rotary International End Polio Now chairman, 2007-08. This event will be a great opportunity to mingle, listen to a wonderful speaker, and have a lovely meal while doing our part to help"End Polio Now". Here are the answers to some questions that have been asked about the event: As the order forms come in, seats are reserved. If you have asked for special seating arrangements we will do our best to accomadate those requests. If you noted on the order form that you are a seat sponsor, you will have your normal seat. Checks are deposited now for the event and conformations will be going out in the next couple of weeks. Tell your friends and family to get those ticket requests in and if you have questions you can call Sue Beach @239-1041. To reserve your tickets before it's too late, follow the directions on our Itzhak Perlman Site Page, then print the ticket order form and mail it in today! |
